Blog Post #2

This is a picture of John Coltrane, a brilliant saxophone player and perhaps a musical mastermind.  The man spent his dedicated to the artform, and was pioneer of modern jazz.  He played with Miles Davis on the outstanding album Kind of Blue, perhaps one of the greatest musical works of all time.  I don't have a personal copy of the album but I'm hoping for get a copy of the album for Christmas.   Anyway, I probably could dedicate my life to the artform, which I was tempted to do during my time in high school.  Eventually I realized that I didn't want to dedicate my life to the lifeform, and instead I decided to switch to chemical engineering. Why? It was a simple switch.  Instead of dedicating my life to sound, I wanted to be able to impact the physical world in a substantial way.  Honestly the pity about this man's life is that he died at a relatively young age.  In my view this deals with a dilemna all men must face.  It is better to live a short life filled with joy and excitement, or is it better to live a long life in the shadow of another.  Personally, I don't care. I'm frankly just trying to survive my sophomore year of college.

Hello World!

Hello World are you tired of simplistic blog that talk about the mundane stresses of everyday life! Fear not, for the world is far more than what may initially meet the eye.  Now those of you who read my earlier blog post will not that i essentially made it clear what my major was: Chem Engineering (cough).  Now I have to basically make a case for as to why you should be invested in the awesome planet known as Earth.  First, you are reading this online, and one should realize that the human race did not those capabilities a generation ago.  Every once and awhile I look at my laptop and think, how did humanity go from sticks and stones to something as complex as the internet and computing? This isn't a dissertation on the history of mankind.  But sometimes I get this vague notion that it is tough to ascertain what exactly is the problem with the blog, as the blog barely gets any views.  Anyway, I hope this blog will be beneficial to people despite the fact that the information has been mostly drivel.

Hello, my name is Jael St. Hilaire and I would like to announce the purpose of this blog.  I will try to keep most of the information pertaining to chemical engineering, my chosen field.  Chemical engineering, like many fields in general is a diverse field with many sub-fields depending on the specific area of the discipline that fascinates one.  For example, Boeing has recently created a metal that is lighter than air.  In order develop this material, they needed chemical engineers who were skilled in nanotechnology.   One thing I personally love about the field of nanotechnology is how a group of people can come together and produce a product that was once considered impossible.  One thing I noted about the article is that it refused to mention chemical engineers in the article.  They essentially "undercover agents" that do much of the hard mental labor labor that is required for Boeing to remain competitive.
